“You can't get away from yourself by moving from one place to another.”-Ernest Hemingway
I love Hemingway and being in Key West has me thinking of him. This quote rings true to me and yet I find myself wondering from time to time if that is my intention. Today the roosters started crowing at 3 am and after 13 minutes of it, I got up and started my morning practices. It's so nice to start the day in the quite, still darkness with only the sounds of nature, before family and the community starts to stir. No words to speak or listen to externally. Drawing the awareness within really fosters a sense of connection with one’s intuition. It is within this silence that we may gain clarity on direction and the work to be done to get there, without engaging in “busy work” or tasks that keep us from what we really must do.
I was reminded recently that I haven’t been keeping up with my creativity. I have had lots of inspiration, but just allowing myself to be “busy” enough to not follow through. I keep coming back to the awareness that finding routine while traveling is challenging. This makes me wonder if the traveling is a diversion from something / THE thing - whatever that is, that I want to be doing. So I wanted to let you all know that my free 21 day wellness challenge (from last year) is still up on my website and since Spring is right around the corner, I thought I would encourage you to do it again, or for the first time ;) I like to use Spring as the perfect time to cleanse and detoxify each year. Even mindful, vegan yoga teachers need to give the liver a break, offering it a chance to be cleansed. The liver is like a filter that detoxifies the blood in your body. Imagine how your car would run (or wouldn’t run) if you never got an oil and filter change! The liver also creates bile to break down fats and stores vitamins in your body. It’s a super hard- working organ. So do it for your liver, for your health, for your well being and for longevity. It won’t be easy (probably), but it will be worth it! After a few (or more) days of eating really clean and such, once the awful headache and weakness subsides, you will start to feel blissful. I promise. Please check with your healthcare provider before any fasting or trying new diets and exercise.
